Het thema was Love me Gender.

In November 2017 I was part of the Dancing on the Edge Festival as a storyteller/ host of the installation Sea of Stories. A beautiful project by Lina Issa and Mayar Alexan.

The installation was a collection of stories by different people all relating to the sea. A few weeks before the festival, during special sessions the stories were told to someone, who retold the story to the original storyteller. The last version was written out and used in the installation. Visitors of the Dancing on the Edge festival were invited to learn a story and retell it to another visitor. Thus, keeping the sea of stories alive and exploring other people's points of view. A beautiful experiment that will hopefully will have a follow up in the future!

I was invited to perform my solo WHO ARE YOU WHEN NO ONE IS LOOKING? at the Storytelling Festival in Prague! Never been there, so the more excited I was to connect with new people through my personal story. It was indeed really wonderful!

I will be performing my solo WHO ARE YOU WHEN NO ONE IS LOOKING? at the Old Vic Workrooms in London! It will be part of the first edition of the First Contact Festival London. I am very excited about that. Interesting to see how the audience in another country will receive my story about growing up in a Greek family in the Netherlands and trying to deal with other labels as well. About trying to fit in but at the same time trying to walk your own line. With lots of humour. Of course.

'Mensen vragen me vaak: "waar komt je naam vandaan? Griekenland... Oh, ben je daar ook geboren? Nee? In Goirle? Jezus...

Tekst & spel: Soula Notos
Met dank aan: Linda Tordoir.
