Storytelling. Before people could write, they were already telling each other stories. Stories to pass on knowledge, to try to understand the world, to feel connected and comforted, to entertain each other. It's truly universal: everyone loves a good story. And everyone is full of stories, although some will disagree with that. But a story is not reserved for people who live grand and compelling lives. If you tell with an eye for detail, rhythm and momentum, even a trip to the supermarket can be a good story. For me, storytelling connects everything I want to achieve with my performances and all my performance styles. Writing, playing, applying several layers, connecting people, making people laugh and moving them.

New solo
A personal story about diaspora, chaos, warm hands, and the in-between; the in-between space in which many biculturals find themselves. A space in which there is always a desire and where you are always on the move, but it seems as if you never arrive. But is it all doom and gloom? Maybe, just maybe, it's not so bad after all.
Language: Dutch

Partners were: the ACPC, Here to Support, Pitztop, Podium Noord, De Regentes/ WijkZ, Avrasya, Justice and Peace, AZC Wijk aan Zee.
I am a coach and host since 2020 for this storytelling project that is a collaboration between Mezrab and Theatergroup Vis a Vis.

My first full-length solo Who are you when no one is looking? dealt with the question how do you survive growing up with different labels without losing your mind. It's a universal story about belonging and finding your place under the sun.
I performed the solo at storytelling festivals in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Nijmegen, Oslo, London, Prague, and also at Oerol festival and Festival Boulevard.
In the picture you see stills from the livestream of my solo for the Lithuanian Storytelling Festival in May, 2020.
On the 25th of September I told a true story during the online Istanbul Storytelling Festival (the festival went online due to Covid-19) . You can watch the video on the media page.
Besides telling my own stories, I write tailor-made stories. Here I am telling a story during the livestream of the Committed Neighbourhoods Show about loneliness.
During the comedy walks I told stories and jokes. Utrecht is so old that every stone in the city has at least three stories to tell. It was a lot of fun uncovering these and sharing them with the participants of the walk.
From october 2019- december 2022
Stories of my invisible family members.
8 storytellers each worked together with a child on unravelling stories of family members and presenting them in a story trail.
A project of Mezrab and Studio 52nd.
I am a regular host and storyteller at Mezrab in Amsterdam.
With storytelling workshops I try to help people convey their story better. Fun and ownership are paramount.
A warm storytelling night with music, 3 professional storytellers, and 2 stories from the audience.
5 editions in 2019 and 2020. A Comedyhuis project.
I have made various plays:
More and more often I perform at Spoken Word evenings with poetic texts.
Last year I was seen at: Mensen zeggen Dingen, Babs' Woordsalon, Labyrinth, Spui25, Subculture Cabaret.
I also did a poetic wrap-up during a municipal evening about diversity policy. It is a powerful and personal way to end a meeting.
Since its foundation in 2009 I have been a member of the Utrecht collective het Comedyhuis. I perform there regularly during the professional evenings, the open mics and the English evenings.
